While more restrictive measures against the coronavirus could be taken in the coming days, the issue of school closures is on the table.

If the Minister of National Education affirms that there is no explosion of cases in schools, some clusters are worrying, as in Calais where Europe 1 went.

REPORTAGE

The question of the closure of schools and the extension of school holidays arises to the authorities, at a time when new measures could come into force.

A cluster was detected in an establishment in Calais.

Since mid-January, 44 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Martin-Luther-King college.

While a massive screening is organized within the establishment, Europe 1 went there.

A student comes out of the screening room, rubbing her nose with a little grimace.

The teenager is one of some 90 college students who underwent a PCR test on Thursday.

A general screening is organized over two days for teachers and 447 college students.

But it remains optional and subject to parental authorization.

“We try to reassure as many families and as many staff as possible so that life continues within the college,” explains the principal of the establishment, Jérôme Gay, at the microphone of Europe 1. “The idea is to break the chain of transmission of the virus and that the students continue to work in all serenity. "

"Health before all !"

Since the beginning of the month, four classes have had to be successively closed.

25 students and six teachers are still in solitary confinement.

Obviously, the situation worries some parents.

"Every week we receive emails saying that there are still cases. We should close this school… do something. Health above all! The lessons we can catch up after", storms one of them. .

For others, the closure of the establishment would be a solution far too radical and detrimental for the college students: "It is better that they be absent for seven days if a cluster develops in a class rather than to close everything over several weeks ", says Emmanuelle.

Homeschooling is far from easy, she says.

It runs the risk of dropping out for many adolescents in this working-class neighborhood.
