The Liberal Democratic Party and the Constitutional Democratic Party have agreed on amendments such as the Act on Special Measures Against Coronavirus, which will remove criminal penalties for infected persons who refuse to be hospitalized.

On the 29th, Prime Minister Suga will also attend the plenary session of the House of Representatives to ask questions about the amendment.

Amendments were held between the Liberal Democratic Party and the Constitutional Democratic Party over the amendments to the Act on Special Measures Against Coronavirus and the Infectious Diseases Act, and on the 28th, it was officially agreed to amend penalties.

As a result, criminal penalties, including imprisonment for infected persons who refused to be hospitalized, will be deleted and replaced with a "fine of 500,000 yen or less", which is an administrative punishment without a criminal record.

In addition, the fines for businesses that do not respond to orders such as shortening business hours are 300,000 yen or less when an emergency declaration is issued, and 200,000 yen in the case of "priority measures such as spread prevention" before being issued. All of the following will be reduced.

On the other hand, the report to the Diet when implementing "priority measures" and the way of financial support for businesses will be clarified by ancillary resolutions.

The amendment will be deliberated at the plenary session of the House of Representatives on the afternoon of the 29th, and Prime Minister Suga will also attend and ask questions.

After that, the Cabinet Committee will invite infectious disease experts to ask questions about reference people.

It is expected to pass the House of Representatives on February 1st of the week, and after deliberation in the House of Councilors, it will be approved on the 3rd of next month.
