The big garbage fire in Kagghamra has now caused the government to act.

On Friday, the government will send out new bills for consultation.

- We have developed a number of proposals to be able to do something about this serious waste crime that exploits some loopholes in the law, says Isabella Lövin (MP), Minister of the Environment, to TV4.

The background to the referral is that people behind the company that runs the landfill in Kagghamra are now being investigated on suspicion of environmental crimes and money laundering.

The new bills

Among other things, the government wants the municipalities to be able to secure money as collateral for cleaning, stricter requirements on how quickly companies must recycle and ban the movement of rubbish to another municipality when the time is up.

The person who leaves waste must also ensure that the recipient is serious.
