Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia today commemorates the victims of National Socialism with silent memorial events.

The occasion is the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz extermination camp on January 27, 1945 by Soviet troops.

Unlike other events, some of the events have been moved to the Internet this year due to the corona pandemic.

This also applies to the commemoration of the state parliament and the state government in the Buchenwald concentration camp memorial.

An online event with Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow (left), Holocaust survivor Éva Fahidi-Pusztai from Hungary and the chairman of the Jewish state community, Reinhard Schramm, deals with the tenth anniversary of the Topf & Sons memorial site about the builders of the incineration ovens for Auschwitz, among others .

In front of the state parliament in Erfurt, a photo exhibition commemorates Holocaust survivors.

The Nazi victims should also be commemorated in Suhl and Mühlhausen.
