The shutdown is the result of the Norwegian government's latest decision on entry into the country, which Prime Minister Erna Solberg presents this evening.

- We see that the mutated virus has spread significantly in many countries that do not monitor the extent to the same extent as Norway, says Solberg.

Thus, the Norwegian border restrictions are again as strict as they were in March, when the pandemic broke out.

They now also include foreign citizens working in Norway.

The only exceptions are made for people from Sweden and Finland who work in health, care, transport and other socially critical functions.

The new strict entry rules come into force at midnight and will be evaluated in two weeks.
