Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The state parliament in Schwerin meets today for its first regular meeting of the new year.

But as with the two emergency meetings in January, the corona pandemic will again determine the debates.

At the beginning of the plenary session, the SPD submitted the topic of "New start after the crisis" for the current hour.

The aim is to discuss how the economy can be ramped up again quickly and jobs can be secured if the number of infections is falling.

One consequence of the corona pandemic is the change in the electoral law.

This is to ensure elections even in the event of natural disasters or pandemics, if necessary as a full postal vote.

On the agenda are further changes to the law and proposals from the opposition, for example to open daycare centers and schools and to support local public transport.
