Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Corona vaccinations in the family doctor's practices are not possible for the time being due to capacity reasons, according to the North Rhine-Westphalian Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU).

With only 80,000 doses of a vaccine that is very difficult to transport and which are currently available in North Rhine-Westphalia per week, it is not possible to go to the general practitioner's office, Laumann confirmed on Wednesday in a current hour of the Düsseldorf state parliament.

In principle, of course, he is also in favor of decentralized vaccinations, Laumann said of the opposition's demands.

In the next few days, it will be considered whether this would be possible with vaccination buses or in “specialized practices”.

"I tend to prefer specialized practices," said Laumann.

In view of the limited amount of vaccine and a total of around 11,000 general practitioners' practices in North Rhine-Westphalia, one can only concentrate on specialized practices for the time being.

In order to decide, however, it must first be clarified how the vaccine can actually be transported and for which population groups it is suitable.

"Then I just want to know at the weekend: What is in the Astrazeneca package insert?" Laumann emphasized.

"I dont know."

Germany booked a relatively large amount of this material.

A joint decision with other federal states “from Flensburg to Munich” would be desirable, said Laumann.

The CDU politician expressed sharp criticism of hasty people who pushed their way into the vaccination chain and did not adhere to the guidelines.

"There is once this splendid example of a mayor in Hennef," ranted Laumann.

"But there are also hospitals that have vaccinated their entire staff, even though this does not correspond to the prioritization and is actually lacking in solidarity."

The 31-year-old mayor of Hennef, Mario Dahm (SPD), had already been vaccinated against Corona.

How the situation could be controlled if the scarce material also came out of the vaccination centers was "pretty much a mystery", Laumann confessed.
