There were eight more emergency calls to housing in December 2020 compared with the same period last year.
- It is most common that there is a fire in the kitchen environment and with families with children, says Joakim Nyberg, operations manager at Södertörn's fire protection association.
Reduction in Stockholm
Greater Stockholm's fire service, on the other hand, has noticed a reduction in the number of emergency calls to homes.
There were 14 fewer alarms in December 2020 compared with the year before.
But it is still too early to say whether it is a reduction.
In an email to SVT, Björn Westerdahl, acting head of communications at the Greater Stockholm Fire Brigade, writes: "Whether it is due to our preventive work or that people have been at home and had better supervision during the corona, or something else is difficult to answer without a deeper analysis."
