Munich (dpa) - The electric air taxi manufacturer Lilium wants to work with the airport operator Ferrovial in Florida to build a network of more than ten take-off and landing sites for its whiz kid.

The framework contract for this has now been signed, both companies announced on Wednesday.

The Spanish infrastructure group Ferrovial is the largest shareholder in London Heathrow Airport, the busiest hub in Europe.

Ferrovial and the Munich start-up Lilium want to work together on the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the Vertiport airfields.

There the batteries of the five-seater flying taxis are to be charged and the passengers get on and off.

The first location in South Florida is to be announced in the spring.

Lilium boss Daniel Wiegand said in Munich: "We are accelerating our market launch plans by entering into partnerships with industry leaders and combining their strengths and experience with our aircraft technology and the infrastructure for passenger service."

Lilium jets are supposed to take off and land vertically, but cover the distance with the help of wings like conventional aircraft.

Series production and the operation of regional flight services are to begin in 2025.
