Emmanuel Macron welcomes the Malian transitional president Bah Ndaw for a lunch at the Elysee Palace, during his first visit to France since taking office on September 25 following a coup d'état.

The meeting is organized to prepare the G5 Sahel in mid-February, and intervenes that the French and Malian armies eliminated a hundred jihadists during a large-scale operation carried out jointly in January in central Mali.

In Gao, Mali, hundreds of people have demonstrated against the insecurity and violence perpetrated by jihadist groups.

They ask the authorities to protect them and secure the area.

In Cameroon at least 53 people are burned to death in the collision between a bus and a van carrying fuel in the west of the country, which set the vehicles on fire.

Finally we will go to South Africa, where the Covid-19 figures could be much higher than the official figures.

The number of so-called "natural" deaths is indeed much higher than normal.
