Neubrandenburg (dpa / mv) - The series of thefts in high-quality cars in the Neubrandenburg region continues.

As a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday, strangers stole an 80,000 euro car in a residential area in the south of Neubrandenburg during the night.

The car with a so-called keyless go system was parked in front of a house on the street.

With such keyless systems, thieves can use a computer to "hack" the connection to the car and open and start it without a key.

The police therefore repeatedly point out that such keys should be stored as shielded as possible in the house.

The residential area is not far from federal highway 96 and the B104, which leads to Autobahn 20.

According to the police, the series has been in Neubrandenburg since August 2020.

A total of 13 high-quality cars with a total value of around 650,000 euros have now been stolen.

The police in the east of the state suspect organized crime and have formed a special investigative group.
