January 27, 2021 The Biden administration is set to host a summit of world leaders on climate on April 22, 'Earth Day'.

This was announced by the new American president himself, who is preparing to launch a flurry of decrees to address the issue of combating climate change.

One of Biden's earliest acts as soon as he took office in the White House was the US return to the Paris climate agreement.

Biden will sign three executive orders on Wednesday to tackle the climate change crisis.

One of the orders will go to federal agencies that are asked to purchase or procure zero-emission electric vehicles manufactured in the United States in order to protect the environment and encourage the creation of new jobs in the industry.

A second order suspends the granting of new federal land leases or offshore waters for oil and gas extraction.

Another order will also formally establish an office to deal with domestic climate policy headed by John Kerry and Gina McCarthy, the climate advisers.

The new legislation asks federal agencies to prepare strategic plans to integrate climate challenges into their work and will ask the director of national intelligence Avril Haines to prepare a report on the implications of climate change for national security.

Today's orders follow Biden's decisions last week: re-entry to the Paris climate treaty and blocking construction of the Keystone pipeline.
