Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - A few weeks before the local elections in Hesse, the CDU and SPD want to present their priorities for the election campaign today.

CDU regional leader Volker Bouffier, together with the chairman of the local political association (KPV) of the CDU, Frankfurt's mayor Uwe Becker, and CDU general secretary Manfred Pentz, presented the guidelines of the Christian Democrats for local elections.

The Social Democrats followed later with the state chairwoman Nancy Faeser and General Secretary Christoph Degen.

The local elections in Hesse will take place on March 14th.

In the vote in 2016, the CDU was the strongest force (28.9 percent) just ahead of the SPD (28.5).

However, both parties had suffered significant losses.
