Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - The Karlsruher SC remained undefeated in their fifth game this year.

The Baden won the chase duel of the 2nd Bundesliga against Hannover 96 on Wednesday evening 1-0 (0-0) and moved up to four points on the relegation rank three.

Hanover's Kingsley Schindler made the decision with an own goal in the 65th minute.

The guests started briskly, but missed the early lead through Genki Haraguchi (7th) and Marvin Ducksch (10th).

Then the KSC made the game a little more balanced.

In the 18th minute, Hanover's Sei Muroya cleared in his own six-yard box, shortly before the break, Kyoung-rok Choi tested Hanover's keeper Michael Esser with a shot from an acute angle (45th).

In between, Schindler gave the more active Lower Saxony another chance per head (26th).

Despite the miserable space available, the game remained entertaining in the second half.

After a header opportunity by Karlsruhe's Daniel Gordon (54th), Ducksch failed on the other side at the brilliantly reacting goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck (58th).

25 minutes before the end, Schindler extended a corner of the KSC with a head into his own network.

Hanover came again, but Joker Hendrik Weydandt could not overcome Gersbeck either (80th).
