The consciousness of Brazilians seems greener and greener.

Sixty percent of those surveyed say they are in favor of conserving land and forests, more than the global average of 54%.

But this is not the opinion of everyone.

For some Brazilians, this result is even surprising.

Aldo is a surf teacher.

He remains skeptical: “

No, I don't think people realize this importance.

No one is aware.

There are very few people who really do the right thing.

Protect, plant ... Very few people do it.

It should start at school so that children realize the importance of the environment from an early age.

 "

On the ground, the controversial and negationist discourse of the Bolsonaro government even seems to be gaining traction, despite the evidence concerning the dangers of deforestation.

Our Amazon is well protected, 90% is preserved,"

says Eduardo, real estate agent in Mato Grosso do Sul.

There is not so much deforestation.

I know this region well.

It is the Indians who burn the earth.

And the farmer does not burn the earth to plant

.

"

In terms of the environment, Brazil still receives the “Can do better” rating.
