According to the Swedish Tax Agency, 4.3 million Swedes have obtained a digital mailbox for government mail.

This means that about half of all those who declared last year received their declaration digitally.

- An advantage of receiving the tax return earlier is that you get the opportunity to better plan your personal finances if you know early on whether you should pay or get back the tax, says Anna Sjöberg, tax return expert at the Swedish Tax Agency, in a press release.

Anyone with a Bank ID can declare digitally

New for this year is that even those without a digital mailbox will see their declaration as a pdf file on the Swedish Tax Agency's site.

Once the declaration is open, only those without a Bank ID need to wait for the paper declaration,

Last year, 2.4 million received the tax refund in April.

- Significantly more than that have the opportunity to get their tax money in April.

Of those who received their tax money in June last year, 1.8 million people had been able to get it already in April because they did not make any changes to their tax return, says Johan Schauman, tax return expert at the Swedish Tax Agency, in a press release.

Last date to get money in April

If you want to receive the tax refund in April, it is March 30 that applies.

In that case, the declaration must be approved digitally without additions or changes.

- Find out if you are entitled to a deduction before approving your tax return.

You can do this on the Swedish Tax Agency's website.

Many believe that they can make deductions related to working at home during the corona pandemic, but this is rarely possible, says Johan Schauman.
