Holzminden (dpa) - The hacker attack at Symrise in December slowed the aroma and fragrance manufacturer.

At times there were “significant impairments in the course of business”, which is why the sales target for the past year was missed, announced the MDax Group on Tuesday evening after the market closed.

In the final quarter, sales rose by 0.7 percent on their own.

According to preliminary calculations, Symrise reported sales of EUR 3.5 billion for the full year; adjusted for currency effects and acquisitions and sales, this was an increase of 2.7 percent.

However, the group had recently announced a sales growth of between 3 and 4 percent from its own resources.

Without the attack by hackers, the goals would have been achieved, it said.

In the meantime, the effects of the attack have largely been eliminated and production processes have been restored.

Management reaffirmed its profitability target for the past year.

The group also confirmed the medium-term goals up to 2025.

Symrise plans to publish the complete financial report for 2020 on March 9.
