Erlangen (dpa) - The medical technology group Siemens Healthineers is raising its forecasts for the current fiscal year after a better than expected start to the year.

In connection with the corona pandemic, the Siemens subsidiary is benefiting not only from good business with diagnostic imaging, but also from its rapid antigen tests, for which Healthineers has also increased the prognosis.

Sales should increase by eight to twelve percent on a comparable basis in 2020/21 (as of the end of September), Healthineers announced on Tuesday evening after the market closed.

So far, the management had assumed growth of five to eight percent.

Healthineers was also significantly more optimistic about the result.

Healthineers grew significantly in the first quarter.

The group not only benefited from products related to the Corona crisis.

But the demand for the standard products has normalized to a pre-pandemic level, said Healthineers.

Sales rose from 3.6 billion to almost 3.9 billion euros.

The comparable growth was 13.3 percent.

The company only provides adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for profit development;

this increased significantly from 487 million to 738 million euros.
