Wiesbaden (dpa) - The police in Hesse are investigating 32 men and a woman for sexual violence against children.

"You are accused of acquiring and possessing child and youth pornography or sexual abuse of children," said a spokeswoman for the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) in Wiesbaden on Tuesday.

In the raid last week, 157 police officers searched the homes of the 33 accused on five days across Hesse.

Among other things, computers, smartphones and data carriers - including 49 hard drives, 30 USB sticks and over 500 CDs and DVDs - were seized.

The investigators did not provide any details about the locations of the raids.

According to the LKA, the responsible “special organizational structure for cross-case organizational structure against child pornography and sexual abuse of children” (Bao Focus) started its work in October 2020.

75 apartments were searched in November and December.

“The range of what we find on site is wide: a suspect was in the process of uploading child pornography videos to a platform on the Darknet when the colleagues arrived,” said Markus Sabais, head of Bao Focus.

In another case, it was not the initially accused but a roommate who was suspected.
