Robert Retout, regional advisor to the National Rally in Normandy, was indicted for the rape of his 12-year-old daughter-in-law and imprisoned, the Coutances prosecutor said on Tuesday.

The victim said he had suffered this violence "for nearly a year" according to the prosecutor.

The RN suspended the chosen one.

A 76-year-old RN regional advisor from Normandy, living in La Manche, was indicted for the rape of his 12-year-old daughter-in-law and imprisoned, the Coutances prosecutor announced on Tuesday.

The victim said he had suffered "regularly and for almost a year of sexual acts committed by his stepfather," said prosecutor Cyril Lacombe in a statement.

"The accused person, heard under police custody, partially acknowledged the facts," he said.

"He was immediately suspended from the movement and from the group to the regional council", indicates the RN

Nicolas Bay, president of the Rassemblement national group at the regional council, confirmed that it was Robert Retout, regional elected official and former municipal councilor of Valognes.

"The facts for which he is accused and which he acknowledges in part are particularly serious. He was immediately suspended from the movement and from the group to the regional council," added the head of the RN.

The suspect was referred Friday, January 22 to the criminal investigation center of Coutances and then indicted "for rape (and attempted) on a 15-year-old minor by person having authority over the victim as well as for sexual assault imposed on a minor of fifteen years ", detailed the magistrate.

The facts were revealed in January following a report from a school in Valognes (Manche) sent to the prosecutor's office in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin "for acts of sexual assault of which a student would be the victim".

An investigation was then opened and entrusted to the Cherbourg gendarmerie.
