London (dpa) - Before the possible engagement of Thomas Tuchel as the new coach of Chelsea FC, club legend Frank Lampard said goodbye with emotional words.
“It was a great privilege and an honor to coach Chelsea, a club that has been a big part of my life for so long,” the 47-year-old wrote on Instagram.
"I'm disappointed that I haven't had the time this season to take the club forward and take it to the next level."
He thanked the fans for the “incredible support” over the past 18 months.
"I hope you know what that means to me."
The Londoners broke up with the long-time Chelsea professional on Monday.
