Karlsruhe (dpa) - Second division Karlsruher SC plague some worries on the defensive before the game against Hannover 96.

On the one hand, coach Christian Eichner has to replace defender Robin Bormuth on Wednesday (8.30 p.m. / Sky) because of the fifth yellow card.

On the other hand, Baden's left-back Dirk Carlson (fatigue fracture in the sacrum) is out in the long term.

While Bormuth veteran Daniel Gordon will make his first starting eleven in five games, Eichner would not have an adequate substitute if Philip Heise failed on the left defensive side.

"We no longer have a classic backup in this position," he admitted.

Eichner has great respect for the sixth from Lower Saxony with equal points.

The KSC coach is particularly impressed by the Japanese Genki Haraguchi.

“It's a very high level what he brings to the field,” the 38-year-old assessed.

However, Eichner believes that it is wrong to focus on a single player.

Hanover's squad is full of Bundesliga experience.

In addition, the KSC announced on Tuesday that the expiring contract with midfielder Lukas Fröde had been extended by two years until June 2023.

"Lukas has developed into a solid pillar of our team over the past two years, so we are happy to continue our sporting path with him," said managing director Oliver Kreuzer.
