Berlin (dpa / bb) - In Berlin, students have to wait a little longer for the half-year reports this year.

They do not exist on the last day of school before the winter holidays, as usual, but because of the corona pandemic for most of them only after the end of the holidays.

The Senate Department for Education announced on Tuesday.

Exceptions are possible after making an appointment, for example for leaving certificates.

This also applies to certificates that are relevant for the admissions process in schools.

According to the education administration, the original documents required in addition to the certificates, such as registration forms and funding forecasts, must also be handed over.

The semester ends on Friday.

The winter holidays last until February 8th.

If the promotion or graduation appears to be in jeopardy, pupils and, if necessary, their legal guardians, should be informed of the grades - for example, by sending copies of certificates.

In all other cases, a copy of the certificate can be sent to students or legal guardians by email on request.

According to the education administration, however, written consent is required for this.

During the holidays, disadvantaged schoolchildren have the opportunity to take part in the so-called winter school.

It applies primarily to children and adolescents in grades 2, 9 and 10. In the winter school, they can catch up on lessons, especially in German and mathematics, and thus catch up on any backlogs that may have arisen during the time when there were no lessons during the lockdown gave in schools.

According to the education administration, participation is voluntary and free.
