Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The electricity prices in Saxony-Anhalt have increased the least strongly in the past ten years in a nationwide comparison.

At just under 15 percent, the plus is below the nationwide increase of 22 percent, the comparison portal Verivox announced on Tuesday.

According to this, a household in Saxony-Anhalt currently pays an average of 1181 euros for 4,000 kilowatt hours per year, which is slightly more than the national average.

That is currently at 1176 euros.

The network charges are primarily responsible for the price differential between the countries, it said.

According to Verivox, electricity cost more in the new federal states than in the old ones for a long time.

But the price gap between East and West has closed.

On average, East German consumers currently pay 3 euros more per year for electricity than consumers in the old federal states.

For the calculation of the electricity price development, the comparison portal included the price level of the basic suppliers and 30 national electricity providers.
