Charlie Dalin (Apivia) returned to Louis Burton (Bureau Vallée 2) in the fierce battle between them, from a distance, for the lead of the Vendée Globe, at the score of Monday morning, two days before the scheduled arrival at Les Sables d 'Olonne.
The two skippers are separated in the standings by a gap of 32.4 nautical miles (60 km) even though they are actually further from each other, Dalin having chosen a route further east of the Azores than Burton's.
On Monday at 04:00 GMT, Dalin is heading towards the finish at a speed of 19.6 knots (36.3 km / h) against 16.5 knots (30.6 km / h) for Burton.
In third position, the German Boris Herrmann (Seaexplorer-Yacht Club de Monaco) is sailing 69.2 nautical miles (128 km) behind Dalin.
He nevertheless has a serious advantage, since he will benefit from six hours of compensation on arrival, for having participated in the rescue of Kevin Escoffier in early December.
The first skippers are expected on Wednesday in Les Sables d'Olonne.
