Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In the Rhenish part of North Rhine-Westphalia, vaccination appointments were made on the first day of vaccination appointments until 5:00 p.m. for almost 65,000 people aged 80 and over.

The North Rhine National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians announced this on Monday in Düsseldorf.

A total of 129,300 appointments were made for 64,650 people to be vaccinated.

72 percent of the appointments were booked online, the remaining 28 percent by telephone via the call center.

"In total, our online appointment scheduling was accessed over 36 million times today," said a spokesman.

To avoid overloading the online allocation, the number of simultaneous accesses was limited.

There was not a single time slot in which no appointment was booked.

Appointments started at 8 a.m. in the morning - online and by phone.

Especially in the morning, many people who had been vaccinated were initially unable to make appointments because of too large a rush.
