Hanover (dpa / lni) - In a hospital in the Hanover region, two people were infected with the corona virus.

The State Health Office (NLGA) announced this on Monday on request.

The NLGA has known about the cases since Friday, a spokesman said.

He did not say which place in the region is affected.

Corona outbreaks have already occurred in several hospitals across the country.

More than 40 employees and patients at the Helios Klinikum Nienburg have tested positive.

However, the Ministry of Health does not systematically record infections in hospitals, so there is no complete overview.

According to the clinic, several patients at the Hannover Medical School (MHH) have already contracted the virus "in manageable numbers".

The situation was "so far under control," said a spokesman.

He could not give concrete figures because the origin of an infection is difficult to clarify.

The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG), on the other hand, announced that there had been “no outbreaks in the field of health care”.

Cases in which patients have infected employees are also not yet known.

Both university hospitals attribute most of the infections of their employees to the private environment.

The MHH called for all employees in health care to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Currently, a little more than half of these employees at the MHH have been vaccinated.

For the rest "we have no vaccine in prospect," said the spokesman.
