Berlin (dpa / bb) - The number of daily new corona infections continues to decline in Berlin, but is still clearly in the red.

On Monday, the health administration gave the so-called 7-day incidence - i.e. the number of infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week - as 108.4.

On Sunday this value was 110.3.

The target in Germany is a value of less than 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days.

The corona traffic light continues to show red for the 7-day incidence - as is the case when the intensive care beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients.

Here the rate remains unchanged at 30.5 percent.

The traffic light remains green for the reproduction number (R value).

According to the management report, the R value on Monday was 1.04 - after 1.00 on the previous day.

It describes how many people an infected person infects on average.

According to experts, in order to slow the pandemic, this value must be significantly less than 1.

The health administration reported 369 further corona infections on Monday, and 160 new infections on Sunday.

A total of 117 124 infections with the corona virus have been reported in Berlin so far, 102 144 people are considered recovered.

The number of deaths related to the virus rose to 2067 - 27 more than the previous day.
