Leipzig (dpa / sn) - In the coming days, people in Saxony can continue to build snowmen - at least in the higher elevations.

As a spokesman for the German Meteorological Service said on Monday morning, permafrost is to be expected in the mountainous region on Monday, so that several centimeters of snow from the weekend are likely to remain there.

In the lowlands, on the other hand, a slight thaw at temperatures of up to three degrees is expected.

The sky remains mostly cloudy, but every now and then the sun should show up.

At night it can cool down to minus five degrees.

On Tuesday, clouds will come in from the northwest again during the day, which can bring up to three centimeters of snow in the lowlands and up to ten centimeters in the Ore Mountains.

Drivers should watch out for slipperiness across the country.

In the mountains it will likely remain frosty, in the lowlands a thaw similar to the day before is expected.
