Bochum (AP) - After finding a large snake skin in the basement of a kindergarten in Bochum, the fire brigade is looking for a reptile that may be hidden there.

An educator had encountered the skin in the basement of the community center with kindergarten and youth home, as a fire department spokesman said on Monday.

The fire department immediately called in two snake experts.

According to their assessment, the animal could be between 1.30 and 1.50 meters long and still be in the rooms.

As a precaution, the six children and five kindergarten teachers had to leave the building on Monday.

It is not clear whether the skin belongs to a non-poisonous or poisonous snake, it said.

First of all, they began to clear out the basement piece by piece.

In addition, around 25 kilograms of flour and ten rolls of double-sided adhesive tape are on the way to the site.

With this, the experts want to set a trap for the snake.

With flour scattered on the floor, they want to find out whether it is actually in the building and leaving its mark.

As long as the building has not been finally searched or the snake has been found, the children will probably not be able to be looked after on Tuesday, said the fire department spokesman.

There was a similar mission at the turn of the year in an apartment building in Dortmund.

Despite an extensive two-week search, a snake was not discovered.
