The first alarm came early in the morning on January 20, when a security company managed to put out a small fire in one of the church windows.

Early on Sunday morning, the next alarm came and then the fire was extinguished by the police.

- As long as you have not got hold of the person behind the fires, there is of course a concern that it may happen again, says Jerker Alsterlund who is pastor in Spånga-Kista parish.

Attempted arson

The police classify the incidents as attempted arson and arson but have not yet arrested any suspected perpetrator.

Temporary camera surveillance at the church may be necessary.

- We are now working to prevent more similar crimes from happening and to find the person or persons who have done this.

At the same time, it is also about increasing security through increased presence at the site, says Anders Djurestad, deputy chief in the local police area Järva.
