In Swedish terms, Northern Lapland is a gigantic geographical police area to cover.

Here are the country's, to the surface, three largest municipalities in Jokkmokk, Gällivare and Kiruna.

At midnight, the entry ban from Norway came into force and since then police have been holding the Swedish-Norwegian border.

- Right now it is mainly border police and IGV who are there and we monitor around the clock.

But the entire region North will have to help to resource monitoring, says John Lindström.

Ordinary activities shall not be affected by the absence of police officers for border surveillance.
