Jena (dpa / th) - The Thuringian rivers currently carry more water due to the thaw and the snowmelt.

"The highest discharge values were reached last week in the night from Friday to Saturday, but without exceeding the guide water levels for the start of the flood reporting," said the Thuringian State Office for Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation in Jena on Monday.

East and South Thuringia were particularly affected.

In the Thuringian Basin and in Northern Thuringia, the runoff reactions were mostly very minor.

In the Saale dams, a larger part of the meltwater was held back, relieving the pressure on the lower reaches of the river.

The dammed water is now being drained in a controlled manner, so that the dams can be absorbed again in the event of future precipitation and thawing weather.

This will ensure more water in the rivers below the dams over the next few days.

The flood area will not be reached.
