The Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu found last Saturday January 9 the propitious occasion to close a meeting with President Pedro Sánchez since they said goodbye for the last time on August 1 after the Conference of Autonomous Communities in San Millán de la Cogolla.
Urkullu took advantage of Sánchez's call in the middle of a snowstorm - with little impact on Euskadi - to tie a meeting in which he will tighten his institutional 'partner' to ensure that on March 31 he will have another 18 competitions with
the prisons as a star transfer
.
But, in addition, Urkullu arrives at La Moncloa this Monday to get Sánchez to renounce himself and
open the management of European funds to the Basque Country
despite the criteria maintained by his Minister María Jesús Montero with the communities last Wednesday.

Urkullu to verify the solid institutional relationship forged between the PNV of Andoni Ortuzar and the PSOE of Pedro Sánchez since the nationalists joined the motion of censure against Mariano Rajoy in June 2018. At the end of that same month (June 25), the first and last meeting between Sánchez and Urkullu took place in La Moncloa, which will be repeated today in a political scenario turned upside down by the pandemic.
The Lehendakari returns to Madrid loaded with dossiers and, except for surprise,
without the intention of appearing after the meeting with the media
at the La Moncloa palace, but rather delaying his explanations in Vitoria until tomorrow and after discussing them in detail with the PNV advisers and the PSE-EE are part of its Executive.
The appointment - which is expected to be long - will allow the Lehendakari to demand that Sánchez comply with the transfer calendar that he has in the transfer of prisons and the economic regime of Social Security the fundamental milestones.
Urkullu intends to ratify that Sánchez will comply with the latest schedule drawn up by the still Minister of Public Administrations Carolina Darias, which sets January 31 as the date for the transfer of the three prisons in the Basque Country.

for this transfer that is also underlined in red by EH Bildu and support groups to ETA prisoners.
The Basque Government jealously guards the "Basque prison model" that leaders such as the popular Carlos Iturgaiz have defined as a "resort" for the 163 ETA members who continue to serve sentences in prisons in the rest of Spain.
The nationalist counselor Beatriz Artolazabal has already advanced that the ETA members will serve their sentences in a "more humanized model" focused on their reintegration and linked to "reconciliation."
But neither Artolazabal nor his socialist partners who prepared this administration in the last legislature clarify the "Basque prison model" if, as it is taken for granted, Penitentiary Institutions are tackling a second phase of approaches by ETA already to the prisons of the Basque Country.
The Lehendakari hopes to convince Sánchez to correct the "absolute centralization" of the management of European recovery funds.
Urkullu has led the so-called Euskadi Next, which includes
188 projects with investments of more than 13,000 million euros
.
As the Minister Pedro Azpiazu made clear to Minister Montero last Wednesday, the Basque Government demands that the "co-governance" accepted by Sánchez to manage the health pandemic is also applied in the Recovery and Reisilence Mechanism.
There are 5,700 million initial euros for which Urkullu will remind Sánchez of the interested alliance between Basque nationalists and socialists in Madrid and Vitoria.
