Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In order to shape the structural change in the central German coal region, the state government in Saxony-Anhalt held a first digital citizens' dialogue.

The discussion in the Burgenland district was conducted on a down-to-earth and realistic level, said Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) on Monday evening.

"People don't expect miracles from us."

The citizens were able to discuss their ideas, wishes and fears directly with Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) and other members of the state government.

The agenda included greater citizen involvement, the desire for sustainable development in the region and various transport projects.

According to a spokesman for the state government, people have also shown a certain impatience.

The results of the events should flow into the structural development program.

Further events with the citizens of the districts of Anhalt-Bitterfeld, Mansfeld-Südharz, Saalekreis and the city of Halle would follow, the state government announced.

Saxony-Anhalt can fall back on aid amounting to 4.8 billion euros, of which the state can plan 84 million each year.
