Hamburg (AP) - Second division soccer club FC St. Pauli has strengthened itself with the experienced Norwegian defender Tore Reginiussen.

The former Schalke player signed a contract that will run until the end of this season on Monday, which can be extended by one year by option.

The 34-year-old central defender played at Rosenborg Trondheim until the end of 2020 and is already the fifth winter newcomer for Hamburg after goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic, defender Adam Dzwigala, midfielder Eric Smith and attacker Omar Marmoush.

“He's leading the way, has a lot of experience and will give our team additional stability.

The fact that he has already played in Germany is a plus and will make it easier to integrate into the team, ”said coach Timo Schultz about the 31-time Norwegian international.

Reginiussen played in the Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04 in the 2010/11 season.
