January 25, 2021 He intentionally administered drugs with an anesthetic and neuromuscular blocking effect to Covid-19 patients, causing the death of two of them.

A doctor on duty in the emergency room of a public hospital in the province of Brescia was arrested by the Carabinieri del Nas.

He is accused of murder: the military has carried out a precautionary custody order against him under house arrest issued by the Gip of the Court of Brescia, accepting the request made by the prosecutor.

The facts date back to last March, when the pandemic exploded and the high number of infections affected the hospitals, clogging them.

The carabinieri of the NAS of Brescia, two months after the events, collecting and elaborating indications about the possibility that the death of some patients, which occurred in the emergency room of a hospital in the province, was caused by medical practices consciously undertaken by a doctor, have launched an investigation, in agreement with the prosecutor.

Even with the support of forensic technical investigations ordered by the judicial authority, the investigative activities made it possible to analyze the medical records of numerous patients who died in that period from Covid-19, finding in some cases a sudden, and not easily explainable, aggravation of health conditions.

Three bodies were exhumed to be subjected to autopsy and toxicological investigations.

The investigations revealed, within the tissues and organs of one of them, the presence of an anesthetic and muscle relaxant drug commonly used in the intubation and sedation procedures of the patient which, if used outside specific procedures and dosages, can determine the patient's death.

Moreover, in the medical records of the deceased subject to verification, the administration of those medicines does not appear (indicated instead in the records of patients who were actually intubated), so much so as to hypothesize that the suspect is also responsible for the crime of forgery in a public document.

The accusatory framework hypothesized by the results of the criminal proceedings and the sources of evidence that document the criminal conduct of the doctor - essentially consisting in administering "Covid" patients with medicines suitable for causing lethal respiratory depression - have reinforced the need, shared by the GIP to Brescia, to order the precautionary measure of house arrest against the health worker to avert the danger of repetition of crimes and probative pollution.
