Stadtallendorf / Marburg (dpa / lhe) - A street in Stadtallendorf in Central Hesse has been evacuated because of a container with the note “radioactivity” in front of a house.

Around 20 residents had to leave their houses on Monday and go to a neighboring school to safety, as the police in Marburg announced.

However, the suspicious metal cylinder turned out to be a harmless hydraulic coupling after four hours - and was empty.

In addition to a good 80 police officers, fire fighters and rescue workers, specialists from the State Criminal Police Office were also on duty with a robot.

The police believe that the container was put in front of the door of the row house by a 39-year-old man.

Why he did that was initially unclear.

The prosecutor took over the investigation.

In addition, it is checked whether the man has to pay the large stake.

According to the police, there was no danger to the population at any time.
