Düsseldorf (AP) - The Eisbären Berlin's winning streak in the German Ice Hockey League is broken.

The capitals lost at Düsseldorfer EG on Monday evening 3: 5 (2: 2, 0: 2, 1: 1) after they had won the previous three games.

With that, the ex-champion in the northern group of the DEL dropped from first to third place.

Goals from Kris Foucault, Leonhard Pföderl and Jonas Müller were not enough for the Berliners to win because they only knew how to convince at times.

In front of empty stands, the hosts took their first opportunity: Alexander Barta scored after just over a minute.

Because both teams made a lot of inattentiveness in defense in the first third, things continued turbulent: Foucault equalized for the polar bears, Pföderl even took care of the guests.

But only 49 seconds later Barta was successful again.

In the second part of the game, the Düsseldorfer increased significantly, while the Berliners were now only slightly offensive.

Tobias Eder and Nicholas Jensen gave the Rhinelander a well-deserved two-goal lead.

In the final third, Müller was able to shorten for the guests, but Barta made the decision with his third goal seconds before the end of the game when the polar bears had taken their goalkeeper off the ice.
