Idar-Oberstein (dpa / lrs) - Unknown stole 2.5 tons of road salt in Idar-Oberstein (Birkenfeld district).
According to the police, the thieves took the salt from a garage in the city center.
What the perpetrators could do with the road salt was initially a mystery from the police's point of view.
"We have never seen such a large amount of road salt stolen," said a spokesman.
So far there has been no concrete investigation.
With such a large amount of road salt, it is likely that the perpetrator (s) removed the stolen property in a van or truck between Thursday and Sunday.
The investigators are now hoping for evidence from witnesses.
