Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Unknown stolen with the so-called grandchildren's trick 83,000 euros from an 84-year-old.

On the phone, the alleged fraudster pretended to be a granddaughter who needed 38,000 euros after a traffic accident in order not to lose her driver's license, the police said on Sunday.

The pensioner then fetched the money from the bank and handed it over to an allegedly commissioned person to collect his granddaughter.

A short time later, she asked again for 45,000 euros to settle the damage from the accident, it said.

Again the senior gave the stranger the money.

The police warn against the “grandchildren's trick” and advise: “Never give money to strangers.

Be suspicious of people posing as relatives or acquaintances on the phone.

Call the respective person yourself at the number you know.

Inform the police immediately if you suspect a call. "
