The European Union aims to have vaccinated 70% of the European population by the summer.

While some countries are already putting the question of a possible "vaccine passport" on the table, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, is dismissing the debate for the moment.

INTERVIEW

Limitation of cross-border travel, acceleration of vaccination, establishment of a common certificate: the 27 of the EU are trying to coordinate their measures against the pandemic in the face of the threat of new variants.

For the moment, the objective that the leaders set themselves is to have 70% of the European population vaccinated by the summer.

The question of a possible "vaccine passport" is already put on the table by some countries, but Charles Michel, President of the European Council, considers this discussion "premature".

"For now, we must first work on a vaccination certificate that is recognized on a European scale, even worldwide", he explains Sunday in the "Grand Rendez-vous" on Europe 1. As for Whether or not this certificate would authorize travel is too early to debate, he said.
