Berlin (dpa / bb) - The State Parents' Committee at the Berlin Senate Department for Education is calling for the regulations for the Abitur exams to be adapted to the pandemic.
"The necessary decisions must be made promptly, bindingly and carefully," said a statement on Sunday.
Examination dates for the Abitur should be postponed "very close" to the end of the regular school year, and the focus of the examinations should be specified.
At the same time, it is important to reduce the number of class work and exams and to increase the selection of exam topics in the Abitur.
The State Parents' Committee also calls for the teaching time to be extended by three weeks without including vacation periods.
Sticking to the Abitur exams is currently a viable and sensible way if there is "at least partial presence" again from mid-February.
"If the pandemic does not allow a return to partial presence, thinking about the failure of the Abitur exams should not be taboo."
The Senate must ensure that the high school grades are recognized internationally.
