There was an intense debate from both sides in SVT's Agenda.

The debate is lifted after the storming of the Capitol in the United States, as some believe that former President Donald Trump has long had a tone that has been a contributing factor to the riot.

Minister of Energy and Digitalisation Anders Ygeman (S) said that the Sweden Democrats' tone contributes to a more heated atmosphere in Sweden.

- They have a media empire of hatred and threats, they persecute journalists and post lists of names of various opponents of opinion.

Jimmie Åkesson talks about war in the Riksdag and the election.

"Creates polarization"

The Sweden Democrats' party leader, Jimmie Åkesson, was not late in responding to the statement.

- What Anders Ygeman just spat out is half-truths and a lot of bullshit.

How he himself acts on Twitter, how his colleagues in the government act, how Stefan Löfven calls me and my voters a Nazi, these are the things that create polarization and gaps.

He continued:

- This means that we no longer see each other as legitimate opponents, but we get an enormous polarization.

That development worries me very much, but this government has no attempt whatsoever to do anything better, on the contrary, it is fueled by this.

Anders Ygeman believed, however, that one must be able to question those who, he believes, question democratic methods.

- It obviously does not call for reflection in Jimmie Åkesson.

All he did was spit bile on me and my person.

That is probably the kind of rhetoric that Jimmie Åkesson engages in.
