Berlin (dpa) - Managing Director Carsten Schmidt relies on a quick settlement of the coach question at Hertha BSC.

"Tomorrow is a good day," said Schmidt on Sunday in a digital media talk by the Berlin Bundesliga club about the successor to Bruno Labbadia.

The 57-year-old had previously confirmed that ex-coach Pal Dardai was one of the candidates.

"We want someone on the field on Tuesday who welds us together and enables us to get something from Eintracht Frankfurt on the weekend," said Schmidt.

Sports director Arne Friedrich, who was appointed interim successor to manager Michael Preetz on Sunday, was actively involved in the search for a coach.

Together with the new coach, Schmidt then wants to decide whether Friedrich, as the new HR manager, should look for reinforcements in the last week of the winter transfer window.

You are «definitely active», but also believe «in the quality of the team,» emphasized Schmidt.

After 18 games, Hertha BSC is only just ahead of the relegation zone of the Bundesliga with 17 points.

The season started with the aim of attacking the European Cup ranks.

After just one win from the previous eight games, the Berlin team split from Labbadia and Preetz on Sunday.
