The handball players of Metz snatched an improbable last second success on a penalty from Tjasa Stanko against the Hungarians of Ferencvaros 30 to 29, Sunday in their arenas on behalf of the 12th day of the Champions League.

This victory conquered with forceps in the last minutes (28-25 for Ferencvaros less than five minutes from the end of the match), allows the players of Emmanuel Mayonnade to keep their second place in the standings with 14 points in 10 matches played.

They come back to one point from Rostov's Russians (15 pts, but nine matches on the clock), and leave Ferencvaros two points behind (12, 11 matches played).

In the race for direct qualification for the quarter-finals reserved for the first two of the group, Metz will play a crucial double confrontation against the Norwegians of Kristiansand (10 points, six matches played) in a week.

The teams classified from 3rd to 6th place will have to go through a jump-off before the quarter-finals.
