Only a few games have so far been played in the seasons of the North German footballers in the amateur area, the first half of the season is still running everywhere, although February is approaching - but no training or game operation will be possible until February 14th due to the extended lockdown.

The football associations in the north now favor a different approach - with numerous teams in Hamburg's leagues playing and being directly affected by decisions in the Hanseatic city.

First of all, the situation in Hamburg: At a video conference of the Hamburg Football Association (HFV), the majority of the participating amateur clubs on Friday evening decided to end the current season.

Of 98 clubs, 76 voted for the cancellation, 17 against, and five abstained.

250 clubs with more than 3000 teams are organized in the HFV.

Since the use of the spaces for team training and games is initially prohibited until February 14th due to the lockdown, it is hardly possible for the season to run properly until summer.

Two weeks ago, the HFV had the last possible date for the start of gaming operations on the weekend of 27./28.

Called February.

Before that, however, a 14-day training must be possible, it said.

Given the current situation, an extension of the lockdown cannot be ruled out.

No promotions and relegations

In the event of a break in the season, there are no promoters or relegators.

The start of the game year 2021/22 would take place with the relay division from the summer of last year.

If training and games are possible before the end of June this year, an organized friendly game is planned on a voluntary basis.

The HRA Presidium plans to discuss how to proceed at its meeting on February 4th.

The cancellation has not yet been formally decided, but everything points to it.

Different orientation in the north

The Schleswig-Holstein Football Association (SHFV) is again striving to bring the 2020/21 season started in September to a sporty end, despite the lockdown that lasted until mid-February.

Whether and in which game mode in the individual seasons below the 3rd division a continuation of the game operations in the middle of the corona pandemic depends "in particular on the time of possible re-entry into team training and game operations," said the SHFV on Saturday its first ordinary meeting of the year.

The development should be awaited

It is certain that, according to the current situation, neither team training nor competitions are allowed until February 14th.

The interruption of gaming operations in the Schleswig-Holstein game classes will be formally extended until February 14th.

However, the presidium and the committees responsible for the organization of the game operations refrain from communicating specific models of a continuation of the point games as long as it is not foreseeable when the return to the game operation is possible, it said.

Other models are possible

Various scenarios were discussed.

Also that the time available until the start of the 2021/22 season is not enough to end the current series with a competitive sporting result.

Then alternative game or tournament models would be possible, the SHFV said.

All models would have to contain solutions that above all ensure the promotion of Schleswig-Holstein teams to the regional leagues and the playing of cup winners.

All teams would have to be given adequate preparation time before resuming competitive games.
