Rostock (dpa / mv) - In order to further reduce the number of cases of new corona infections, new restrictions will come into force in the northeast on Monday.

This includes a stricter mask requirement.

So-called medical masks are then necessary in local transport and in shops, such as surgical masks, FFP2 masks or KN95 masks.

According to the State Chancellery, anyone who still wears a fabric mask should not have to pay a fine in the coming week.

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 113 new corona infections were reported on Sunday.

On Sunday a week ago there were 121 new infections.

As the State Office for Health and Social Affairs further announced, six other people died in connection with a corona infection - there are now a total of 369 in the northeast.

The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald continues to record the highest incidence value.

It is now at 201.2 and is considered a high risk area.

The city of Rostock has the lowest value with 33.9.

In the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, it is forbidden from Monday onwards between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. to leave your own apartment or property without good reason.

It is also prohibited to move further than a 15-kilometer radius from your place of residence or to enter the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.

These restrictions already apply to the Mecklenburg Lake District.

In regions with more than 150 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, parents can only bring their children to daycare centers or school for emergency care, provided they are in the 1st to 6th grade.

For the final classes, i.e. grades 10 and 12, face-to-face teaching should be possible nationwide.

There are exceptions to this in the three districts with the highest incidences, Ludwigslust-Parchim, Vorpommern-Greifswald and Mecklenburg Lake District.
