January 23, 2021 "The 20% reduction in the supply of

Pfizer vaccines

is not an estimate. It is a sad certainty. Unfortunately with Pfizer and in the daily application of emergency management I am no longer comfortable with estimates. I do not need them. the reassurances, I need the vaccines ".

Thus the extraordinary commissioner for the Covid emergency

Domenico Arcuri

in an interview with

La Stampa

.

"There are many ways of proving non-compliance. Of course we think Pfizer is in default at the moment.

We are working with the Attorney's Office

, today I will have a very punctual meeting with them to conclude the investigation as soon as possible", he remarks, "in the latest weeks we have experienced delays that we do not understand we must continue to complain because the right to health of Italians is not a value that can be negotiated. We are fighting a long and very tiring battle. Vaccines are the only way to end this battle and return to normality: we do not know others and probably there are no others. We are strongly asking the manufacturers, in particular one, that all the vaccines that had been planned reach Italy ".

"From a contractual point of view - explains Arcuri - the supply of vaccines is very simple. The European Union has signed a contract with the drug producers in the name and on behalf of the 27 Member States. Furthermore, each Member State, therefore also the 'Italy, has signed derivative contracts with respect to the general contract. On the general EU contract there are quantities, terms, deadlines for delivery and these are also referred to in the contracts of the various countries ".
