“The prime ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania join the call of Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece and Denmark to the EU authorities to confirm the AstraZeneca vaccine and ensure its immediate distribution even before its confirmation,” Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte wrote on Twitter.

She stressed that despite the importance of adhering to formal procedures, any delay in this matter could cost lives.

Italy's Health Minister Roberto Speranza said earlier that the European Medicines Agency may approve the AstraZeneca vaccine on January 29.
